Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar, who has made India proud with his outstanding performances during his long cricket career, feels there is so much left to experience and learn for him even today. The God of cricket shared this on social media after his conversation with National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN) staff. Taking to Facebook, Sachin shared that he enjoyed “a unique conversation with a bright group of Officer Trainees at NACIN’s Mumbai campus”. During the talk that covered various topics, Sachin got a chance to recount some wonderful memories. However, the focus of the conversation were five points that helped the star cricketer in his life. With the hope that these thoughts would help the common people in transforming their careers and lives, Sachin shared it with a wider audience. Let’s take a look at the 5 mantras Sachin shared :
1: Leave your ego at the door
According to master blaster “there will always be moments of provocation in any competitive field. The important thing is to take only what helps you move toward your goal and leave the rest. Ego is something which stops you from doing the right things, and drives you to do the wrong things. You’re better off without it in any competition.”
2: Do not dwell
The next tip that Sachin shared with his fans on Facebook was “coming back from a loss or a bad day at work and feeling terrible about the day is natural. It’s human. But keeping that feeling close to your heart, day after day, as you go out on to the pitch just doesn’t work. I made it a habit over the years to avoid reliving my failures, and just focussed on and worked towards my goals. Dwelling never figured in that equation.”
3: Listen To Yourself
According to Sachin, “time and time again, you’ll find yourself in situations where somebody or the other, solicited or unsolicited, gives you advise about how to play a stroke, what to do to advance your career, or how you should or shouldn’t have done something. There’ll always be those people; many of whom may have the best intentions. Hear what they have to say, but in the end, the only voice you should listen to is your own.”
4: Look for strong partnerships
Once the key opening batsman of his time, Sachin asked people to look for partnerships which are strong. “It’s important to learn to recognise partnerships that are clicking in your life. Be it a partnership in love, friendship, work, etc. In Cricket, many make the mistake of only considering batting partnerships as important. But I believe that bowling partnerships have equal merit. There’s nothing more fascinating to watch than two human beings embarking on a common goal and working together to take their place as part of a bigger dream … a team, a nation. Actively seek out those partnerships. They won’t let you down,” he mentioned in the post.
5: Don’t be afraid to ask for help
Sachin Tendulkar advocated the importance of being with family and friends during ups and downs of life. He said, “Many careers don’t involve physical injury. Mine, being a sporting career, had plenty of them. But whether the injury is physical, mental or emotional in one’s career, it is important to remember that we are not out there alone. When times are good, celebrate with close friends and family. And, when times get tough, don’t be afraid to lean on them. I assure you, they will be your biggest motivators and will be more than happy to be there for you. My friends and family always were.”
Sachin Tendulkar further asked his fans to share the thoughts that have helped them to transform their careers and lives. “Looking forward to hearing what thoughts have helped you transform your careers and lives,” wrote Sachin.
