And it was necessary to do so, because not every Sachin fan is well-in-tune with Sachin’s statistics. And by statistics, we don’t mean his normal statistics, like number of matches played, runs scored, centuries scored etc. Because even a Cricket illiterate will relate such statistics, the number of times that they have been printed, blogged, announced and generally said.
We are talking about his performances in crucial matches, in knock-outs and finals, then series-deciders or matches that would go on to win a series or keep it alive for that matter. We are pointing towards his contribution in important games against top-notch bowling attacks, at dusty and slow sub-continental tracks or the damp West-Indian wickets or or the luscious green English, African or Kiwi tracks. These are not the statistics any Sachin fan would be able to relate at the drop of a hat.
Neither will every Sachin fan remember every inning of Sachin wherein he cruised India single-handedly to a victory, nor when he solely starred in a heart-breaking loss.
‘Sachin Army’ promises to provide all such important statistics, and keep it all ready at any Sachinist’s disposal, if need be. So the next time you see Sachin being needlessly criticised, just ask Sachinist Army and say attack!!!!!
