Delighted with the inclusion in the Mumbai Indians’ squad, the former Australian cricketer Ricky Ponting on Wednesday said he can still learn a fair bit from India batting great Sachin Tendulkar’s book.
Expressing his views after being selected in the Mumbai Indians squad, the former Australian captain told Australian media, “I sent him (Sachin) a message as soon as the auction was over just to say I’m looking forward to playing with him. I think I can still learn a fair bit from him (Sachin) as well. Hopefully he might even learn a few things off me.
“We’ve played a lot against each other over the years and spent a little bit of time together off the field. It will be great fun for us to play together,” said the 38-year-old.
In reply to Ponting’s message, Sachin replied, “It will be great fun for us to play together.”
The two supremes of cricketing world will take charge of Mumbai Indians in the upcoming Indian Premier League’s sixth edition. Ponting was picked up by Mumbai Indians for USD 400,000 in the IPL auction last week.
Ponting was part of the inaugural IPL season, in 2008, playing for Kolkata Knight Riders and was released by the franchise in 2010.
